Sohail Ahmed Abro
Sohail Ahmed Abro is an internationally recognized Sindhi nationalist leader, political activist, and human rights advocate. Born in 1980 in Lyari, Karachi, Pakistan, he has dedicated his life to the struggle for Sindh’s right to self-determination and the protection of human rights, democracy, and cultural identity.
Sohail began his political journey in 1997 with the Jeay Sindh Students Federation (JSSF) and rose through the ranks of various Sindhi nationalist organizations, including Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) and Jeay Sindh Tahreek. His activism has focused on defending Sindh’s natural resources, preserving its cultural heritage, and organizing province-wide protests, campaigns, and international advocacy initiatives.
In 2021, he founded the Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM), a political movement advocating for Sindhudesh—the vision of a sovereign and independent Sindh. Under his leadership, JSFM has become a prominent voice for Sindhi self-determination, mobilizing grassroots support, engaging diaspora communities, and highlighting Sindh’s political challenges on international platforms.

Forced into self-imposed exile in 2016 due to state persecution, Sohail has lived in Malaysia, Dubai, and currently resides in the United Kingdom. From abroad, he engages with the international community, including the United Nations, Amnesty International, and the British Parliament, raising awareness about human rights violations, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings in Sindh and Balochistan.
Sohail Ahmed Abro’s leadership reflects a global approach to activism, combining grassroots mobilization with international diplomacy. His mission is to unite Sindhi voices worldwide, secure recognition for Sindh’s right to self-determination, and advocate for justice, democracy, and human dignity on the global stage.
